Minimal logo with different shapes and bright colors can never go wrong as a design. In this particular tutorial you use basic shapes, such as circle and rectangles to create a unique minimal shape logo. We’ll simply use circles as our base and use the shape builder tool and create new and different shapes to create this end result. Adding this gradient color scheme just enhances the style of logo and add to it’s modern feel. You may find additional inspiration by searching on Vlemonn.
Let’s get started!
First, we create a new document (cmd+N or ctrl+N) in Adobe Illustrator with an artboard size of 600 x 600px
Now use Ellipse Tool (L) to create a circle on your artboard and press hold Shift so that you have a circle not an ellipse. You can copy and paste this circle above it’s self as shown below. You should have three circles of same size.
Now copy and paste the same circle on either side of the existing circles. The right side and left side circle should be intersecting in middle as shown below.
Now just use the Rectangle Tool (M) from the tool panel and add a vertical rectangle on either side of the middle circles. These rectangles should be intersecting with the circles. It is important that the outlines of rectangle and circles touch.
Use the Swap Fill and Stroke (Shift X) this function converts the black fill into a stroke. Then select your entire design and select the Shape Builder tool (Shift + M) to create different objects. Simply click and drag across the selected shapes to create one single object. Create different objects as shown below.
Remember that your paths must be either aligned or overlapping for the Shape Builder tool to work. Delete the unused shapes when you are finished.
Let’s create our color palette.
I have selected three colors that gel well together. To use them colors, you can add them to the Swatch panel by selecting them and clicking on the New Color Group button.
Now that everything is ready, just fill your logo with colors and see it come to life. I have added the lighter shade of color on the top most object and then gradually shifted to darker shades as I worked my way towards the bottom objects. You can use any set of three colors that go well together.
Our last step is to add background to the logo. Create a square on your artboard and fill it with a lighter shade of grey. Select the square and click right > Arrange > Send to Back. This will send your square behind every other object on the artboard so that you can see the logo.
Our minimal shape logo is complete! I hope you have enjoyed this easy and useful tutorial. If you do follow this tutorial and create your own logo, please post it in the comments so we can see your result. Thankyou fellow designers!
