In this tutorial we are going to create vintage style lemon logo design in Adobe Illustrator. We’ll apply a range of adjustments to form the layout using fonts, then finish the artwork with texturing to achieve the aged look. This cute yet bold lemon logo is vintage yet a modern style of designing. I used yellow and green colors to go with the brand. If you are looking for more logo inspiration please explore VLemonn.
Let’s get started!
First, we create a new document (cmd+N or ctrl+N) in Adobe Illustrator with an artboard size of 800 x 600px
Now use Type Tool (T) and type Lemon. I used the Nickainley font but you may use any vintage font that suits your design requirements.
Then right click on the text and select the Create Outline option. This option converts text into an object. Now select a corner vertex and rotate your text towards left a little as shown below.
Use the Rectangle Tool (M) from the tool panel on left and create a rectangle around the text. Then select a corner vertex and drag the mouse inside the rectangle to make the edges more rounded.
Select the Ellipse Tool (L) from the tool panel and create an ellipse on centre of the artboard. Create two more circles, one above the ellipse and another below it.
Then select the three objects and choose the Shape Builder Tool (Shift+M) from the tool panel and combine the circles. You need to select and drag the mouse through the three objects as shown below.
Then select this object and Click Right > Arrange > Send to Back. This option will send back the object and bring the font in front.
Complete the design by adding texts and different fonts to enhance the logo. I have added one more font that is the Century Gothic Font. Used a regular and a bold font on the logo.
Now go to Object > Path > Offset Path and an offset path panel will appear. Remember to keep the offset of 10 px and then hit ok.
Let’s add colors to our design. Create squares and fill them with color you need. Then select these square and select the New Color Group on the Swatch Panel.
Then select the lemon and select Gradient Tool (G) and add shades of yellow to the logo. Select the texts and fill them with white color.
To add green texture look, I downloaded a green distressed seamless background and opened the file in illustrator. Then select the background and send it back by Right Click > Arrange > Send to Back.
Now select the background and the outer rounded rectangle and then go to Object > Clip Masking > Make (cmd+N).
Now you jest need to select the rounded corner rectangle in middle and fill the stroke with white color as shown below.
Make some changes and play with fonts and colors and your logo must be complete! I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you do follow this tutorial and create your own vintage logo, please post it in the comments so we can see your result. Thankyou fellow designers!
