How to Create a Sunset and Seashore Logo

How to Create a Sunset and Seashore Logo

Sunsets and seashores are primarily a line art logo. I have added bright colors and bold strokes to enhance the design and logo. This type of bold line art logos is very trendy and can be made with the help of basic shapes and a shape builder tool. The color scheme is very vibrant ranging from blue to orange. Blue and orange are complementary colors, that’s why they can never look bad together. You may find additional inspiration by searching on Vlemonn.

Let’s get started!

Step 1

First, we create a new document (cmd+N or ctrl+N) in Adobe Illustrator with an artboard size of 800 x 600px

Step 2

Now use Ellipse Tool (L) to create a circle on your artboard. Press shift while creating to make a perfect round circle instead of an ellipse. Place this circle in middle of your artboard.

Step 3

This step involves repeating the last step again for 5 times. You may simply copy and paste the circles and resize them by dragging your mouse. Place the circles as shown below. You’ll need about 5 circles more. Please refer to the images shown below.

Step 4

The artboard might look like mess but this magically tool will help you create new shapes from the existing ones. So, select your entire design and select the Shape Builder tool (Shift + M) to create different objects.

Select the Shape Builder tool and then click and drag across the selected shapes to create one single object. Create different objects as shown below.

Remember that your paths must be either aligned or overlapping for the Shape Builder tool to work. Then go ahead and delete the unused lines and shapes from the artboard.

Step 5

Now create another circle with the help of the ellipse tool. Create a smaller circle and place it in the centre of the design. Then select the circle and go to Objects > Path > Offset Path. An offset panel will appear, you have set the offset to 45 px and then hit okay. Another circle will be created between the circles as shown below.

Step 6

This step is easy, we will send these circles behind the waves. Select the three circled on your artboard and then Click Right > Arrange > Send Back. So now your waves will be layered above the circles.

Step 7

We’re now going to generate our color palette.
First select your colors for waves and sky. Draw squares with fills of the colors you’re going to use for the different parts of the design. I've picked shades and tones of blue and orange colors.

Now to use the colors add them to the Swatch panel by selecting them and clicking on the New Color Group button. Create two groups for each color range. One for blue and one for orange.

Step 8

Our design and the color palette are ready. Now select an object, then fill them with colors. Fill the circle with shades of orange. Going from the light in inside to the dark on the outside. Then select each wave and fill it with different shades of blue.

Now select the waves and the biggest circle only and then set their stroke to 10 pt. The stroke edges to round and cap corners. Please refer to images shown below.

Step 9

The last step is to add text to our logo. I stuck with a modern and minimal font that is orator font. Now use Text Tool (T) to create text and type in sunsets and seashores. Align it with the logo and place it below it.
