Cognos Data Manager Link is used define the flow of Cognos Data Manager components. It defines the successor and predecessor between tow nodes. If you have two nodes in a Job Stream of your Cognos Data Manager Catalog then link is used to define the execution order of the two node. Link is a arrow and used to join two nodes. The tail of the link is called predecessor and the head of the link is called successor.
Follow below steps to add a link between two nodes of Cognos Data Manager.
Method 1: Drag and Drop
In this method select your Job Stream. From the toolbar click on "Insert a Link" button. Now right click on your first node (do not release the right click) and drag your mouse cursor towards second node. Once reached on your second node release the right click.
Pros: Quick and easy to create links between two nodes.
Cons: If your Job Stream contains 100s many nodes than this method hard to use.
Method 2: Use Predecessors and Successor
In this method select your first node. Double click it to open it's properties. Now select successor tab look for second node and check the check box in front of second node name. Click on OK to save the changes.
Alternative you can select second node. Double click it to open it's properties. Now select Predecessors tab look for first node and check the check box in front of first node name. Click on OK to save the changes.
How to delete a link between two nodes ?
Select the link you want to delete and press delete key from your keyboard.
